Fame Star regains his shine

After 24 months out in the cold, FAME STAR returned to the winner's circle with a superb comeback win in the Class 1 - 1200m sprint at Kranji here today, leading all the way under apprentice Seow Poh Hui.

To show that the seven-year-old still got what it takes, the American gelding covered the journey in 1min 8.88secs which is one second outside the course record set by SACRED KINGDOM in 2009.

FAME STAR was an immediate success when he began his career, winning his debut and was placed in his subsequent six starts, picking up another win in the process.

From mid 2019 to early 2020, FAME STAR went on a six-run winning streak, including the Group 2 EW Barker Trophy.

FAME STAR failed to maintain that form after the enforced break in racing in 2020 due to Covid-19. Last year, he managed six placings, twice finding one to beat in LIM'S LIGHTNING.

FAME STAR was transferred to Stephen Crutchley last month and has regained his shine in his second start under the newly-licenced trainer.
