After detecting signs of developing clusters of Covid-19 infection among members of the Club's staff force, the Perak Turf Club has called off their forthcoming meeting on March 5.

The detection was based on the mass Covid-19 testing exercise conducted the club recently.

"This is a very serious and concerning development which warrants speedy mitigating measures be taken," the club said in a statement.

"With caution and to proactively mitigate any further spread of infection among members of the Club's staff force as well as the local racing community, the Committee has decided to cancel races — both on-course and off-course — over the next 10 days.

"In the meantime, track training will continue but barrier trials will be cancelled during this period.

The Committee of the Perak Turf Club will continue to monitor the overall health situation at the club and will make appropriate decisions based on the latest developments."
