Lucky Jinsha marches on to the top

LUCKY JINSHA came out from a spell and put behind his last-start disappointment to win his first test in the top class for the first time at Kranji here today.

From August last year to last April, the Australian gelding made phenomenal progress by reeling off five consecutive wins from Class 5 to 3.

The winning streak ended in late April when he faded to finish ninth in a Kranji Stakes B event over 1400m after leading into the home straight. The gelding was subsequently found to be lame near-fore and was rested for more than four months.

The Class 1 - 1100m handicap on the polytrack today may not have the top names in the line-up but still have the likes of KHARISMA (10 wins), KING ARTHUR (8 wins) and SURPASS NATURAL (7 wins) in the line-up.

Apprentice Zyrul Nor Azman, who replaced the indisposed Hakim Kamaruddin on the five-year-old, had LUCKY JINSHA in second place on settling down. LUCKY JINSHA shot to the front 200m out and went on to win by 1 1/4 lengths.

Sold for just A$5,000 as a yearling, the son of Shooting To Win has now picked up eight wins in 17 starts, earning more than S$220,000.
