Ahtims Klis passes first test with gutsy win

AHTIMS KLIS passed her first big test with a gutsy win in the Enrich Stakes A event over 1400m here today.

After two wins in Banded (38-61 and 51-74) events, the Australian mare faced some top names in the set-weight event this afternoon.

Jockey Jackie Chuah, riding the six-year-old in place of Laercio De Souza who was indisposed, tracked pacemaker LAUS DEO from the start in the 1400m contest. AHTIMS KLIS collared the leader at the 200m and shot clear soon after.

But D'GREAT LIGHT, who got going late, charged home in the closing stages but just failed to AHTIMS KLIS by a short head.

AHTIMS KLIS had a late start to her career but she quickly showed potential with two wins and a third in as many starts at four. She was then shipped to Malaysia where she won her second under Frank Maynard.

After a subsequent third followed by a long break in racing due to the Covid-19 restrictions, she was sold and transferred to trainer Lim Hoon Seng.

Unplaced in two runs after racing resumed, AHTIMS KLIS then started to regain her form. A second last December was followed by another win last month, then today very gutsy win.
