Lim's Kosciuszko passes mile test in style

LIM'S KOSCIUSZKO passed his first test over the mile — his first attempt beyond 1400m — with flying colours in the Kranji Stakes A set-weight at Kranji here today.

In so doing, the Australian gelding, whose next target is the Kranji Mile in May, stretched his unbeaten record to eight wins.

Partnered by regular rider Danny Beasley, the four-year-old led his older rivals on a merry chase and coasted home 1 1/4 lengths ahead of CIRCUIT MISSION in a time of 1min 34.07secs, just 0.79 second off the (long course) course record set by MAGNETO in 2014.

"We tested him over this because the Kranji Mile is coming up, and he passed, so we’ll go for the main race," said Dan Meagher.

"If he didn’t get it, we would then try to get him in the Lion City Cup over the 1200m instead. He’s done nothing to show that he won’t get it."
