It wasn't his best ever day in Singapore. Still, Manoel
Nunes put the others in the shade, including new-kid-on-the-block Jake
Bayliss who got off the mark with a double, with five winners at Kranji here
today.
The fireworks started early for the three-time Singapore
champion jockey Nunes, quite literally, when he won the opening race on
FIREWORKS, then followed up the next on THE BULLET.
Two races later, Nunes and trainer Tim Fitzsimmons
combined again for their third winner of the day with BORN TO WIN.
Nunes went on to score on LUCK OF MASTER and wound up the
day with PROSPEROUS RETURN.
"It’s one of those days when things just went well for
me. I had good rides, but I also needed luck in the running," said Nunes.
"I’ve ridden five winners before, but six was my best score back in 2014."
On July 4, 2014, Nunes won six races astride SNITZEL
SPIRIT, BIG HARVEST, SAND LANE, CITY LAD, DANNY and REACH FOR THE SUN.
With his five-timer, Nunes leads the table with 20 wins
from 66 rides and is five winners ahead of Danny Beasley.
