White Peach wins first trip away from home

It's his first time racing outside of his home base Sungei Besi, but WHITE PEACH made the trip to Penang worthwhile by winning the Class 4 - 1300m handicap here today.

And the Ruwi gelding did it with 58kg on his back and racing on a soft track for the very first time.

Ridden by Clyde Leck, WHITE PEACH settled just off the pace, moving up to third on entering the straight. BAGHDAD, who took over the lead approaching the 800m, was clear leader at this stage and was still well in front at the 200m.

But WHITE PEACH wore him down with every stride in the run home and got up close to win by one length.

WHITE PEACH was purchased for racing in Singapore but after spending several months at Krani without getting to the races, he was shipped up north to trainer Charles Leck.

WHITE PEACH has now scored four times in 16 starts in Malaysia.
