Singapore ends season with double upsets

The 2022 Singapore season concluded on a sour note for punters today when MOONGATE STAR and BIG GREEN HAT captured the last two race to pay three-figure dividends.

MOONGATE STAR, making just his fourth outing of the year and racing after a four-month layoff, took the Class 3 - 1100m sprint on the polytrack to pay S$200 for a win.

It was the fifth win in 20 starts for the New Zealand gelding had who made his debut in 2019.

The final race of the season went to BIG GREEN HAT who had won just two starts back but ignored in the betting in the Class 4, Div 1 - 1200m handicap.

The Australian gelding won by a short head to pay $147.

Brazilian jockey Manoel Nunes drew a blank today but he had already wrapped up the champion with 81 winners, nearly double of the second-placed Wong Chin Chuen with 42.

Tim Fitzsimmons also drew a blank but the trainer's title was already in his bag with 65 winners. Donna Logan finished second with 58 winners.
