Stewart charges to first three wins

Ronnie Stewart once rode winners with regularity when he plied his trade in Singapore from 2006 to 2011, winning the Singapore Gold Cup in 2011 before going on to ride in Australia, Macau and Mauritius.

Granted a licence for the 2022 season, Stewart had to wait seven weeks and endured 40 winless ride before landing his first win on CHARGER in the opening race at Kranji here today.

Stewart then went on to create the spoiler of the day when he ended the unbeaten run of LIM'S KOSCIUSZKO by taking GOLD STAR to a shock win in the Class 1 - 1400m handicap.

The Australian then celebrated a most memorable day by completing a treble on SILENT IS GOLD in the final event.

CHARGER, ridden by Stewart for the first time, picked up his seventh win by leading all way.

GOLD STAR, a Class 2 winner last year, took advantage of his light impost (50kg) when he pounced on LIM'S KOSCIUSZKO in the final 150m to win by three-quarter of a length in a course record time of 1min 20.48secs.

LIM'S KOSCIUSZKO had been unbeaten in eight starts in Singapore and was the overwhelming favourite in the race. GOLD STAR paid $92 for his seventh win in 35 starts.

SILENT IS GOLD, unplaced in one run in Australia, got off the mark in his third start, leading all the way.
