Seven Sundae lands runaway win

Unsuccessful in 12 starts in Singapore, even after a change of name more than a year ago, SEVEN SUNDAE is now proving his worth after moving to Malaysia at the end of last year.

After an unplaced debut run under new trainer Cheng Han Yong last month, the Australian gelding broke the duck with a four-length win in a Class 5 - 1500m handicap in Kuala Lumpur two weeks ago.

Promoted to Class 4, the four-year-old showed that he has made further headway in the Class 4 - 1400m event here today.

SEVEN SUNDAE was travelling so well and eager in second spot behind the early pacemaker SPEEDY SWALLOW that his rider Lim Shung Uai did not hesitate to take the gelding to the front in the back stretch.

SEVEN SUNDAE immediately made a breakaway and was several lengths clear from the 1000m mark. In the soft going, he just kept going and going the rest of the way and romped home nine lengths ahead of the rest.

A race earlier, the Cheng-Lim combination was successful with THUNDERGOD who picked up his second win in 11 starts. Cheng had purchased the New Zealand gelding as a two-year-old for NZ$20,000.
