Tham follows first
Cup win with double

Fresh from winning his first big
race in the Coronation Cup in Ipoh last Sunday, jockey Tham Kin Chong
followed it up with a winning double here today.
Just six races were held after the last event had to be called off due to
the adverse weather condition.
Tham has ridden OUD WOOD in five of the gelding's last six starts without
success. But the pair was not to be denied today in a Class 5 - 1200m
handicap.
Tham tracked the pacemaker BITCOIN KING on settling down before levelling up
with the leader at the top of the straight. OUD WOOD shot the front 250m out
and opened up in fine style to win by 1 3/4 lengths.
OUD WOOD was unsuccessful in 14 starts in Singapore but has now picked up
three wins and five placings in 12 runs since moving to Penang under trainer
Ananthen Kuppan who also won the opening race with LOUEY VELOCE today.
Tham completed a winning double with TOPMOST in the Banded 51-74 event over
1300m.
The Australian gelding scored twice in 18 runs in Singapore and has proved
pretty useful in Malaysia with four wins and five placings in 15 starts thus
far.
Tham rode the seven-year-old for the first time last start, finishing third
to CHEVAL RAPIDE over 1400m at Sungei Besi three weeks ago.
Today, the pair settled third behind the pacemaker NOVA FALCON but shot the
front passing the 600m to win by 3 3/4 lengths.
