BUDDY SIXTY-ONE braved the heavy
rain to score an easy win in the Class 4 - 1400m handicap here today,
continuing to impress in his comeback in Malaysia.
The Australian gelding won three races when racing as STREET PARTY in
Singapore, with two coming in the space of three runs in mid-2021.
But he failed to regain that form in seven subsequent outings and was sold
in the middle of last year and moved to Malaysia. He was also renamed by his
new owners.
BUDDY SIXTY-ONE made a winning start in Malaysia with an easy first-up win
on his home track here three months ago. After two more runs, finishing
fourth and third, he was back in the winner's circle today.
The seven-year-old was caught wide most of the way from his wide barrier
(11) and consequently had to make his run wide out in the straight. That
turned out to his advantage as managed to quickly gain momentum.
While the rest of the field struggled on the cut-up track on the inside,
BUDDY SIXTY-ONE swept to the lead 100m out and drew away to win by 2 1/4
lengths.
Heavy rain fell before and during the race, and again in the race that
followed.
As a result the last two races were called off due to the adverse track
conditions.
