Early win for Clyde Leck in Singapore

Clyde Leck, champion jockey cum champion apprentice in Malaysia last year, did not take long to register his first win in Singapore.

After finishing last astride SACRED ICON in the opening race here today, Clyde quickly showed what he capable of when he captured the next event on MAY in the Restricted Maiden event over 1100m on the polytrack.

MAY, making his racing debut, jumped smartly and led early. TOH GUAN TREASURE then took over with MAY easing back to sit behind the new leader.

MAY ranged alongside TOH GUAN TREASURE at the top of the straight and these two drew away from the rest to fight it out, with MAY getting the upper hand to win by half a length.

"Everyone is watching me from home, but I'm happy with my first win in Singapore," said Clyde who came down to Singapore in the best of form, having ridden three winners including the Penang Sprint Trophy on BERRY BLISS last Sunday.

"I rode him in trackwork on Wednesday and he felt great. I thought he had a chance to win, so I just followed the instructions and everything went well."
