Street Of Dreams makes it five-in-a-row

STREET OF DREAMS passed his first test in open company with flying colours at Kranji here today, stretching his winning streak to five.

What a phenomenal rise for the Australian gelding by Dundeel who had four runs for one second placing before getting off the mark in a Maiden event over 1200m last October.

Then came back-to-back wins in Class 4 before defying a promotion to win in Class 3 last month.

Pitted against some of the top horses in the Kranji Stakes A event over 1400m roday might seemed a bridge too far for the four-year-old. But the gelding took advantage of 50.5kg on his back against the topweight KATAK (59.5kg) and others.

Kept just off the pace early, STREET OF DREAMS was switched out five-wide at the home turn to go after the lead. He hit front easily at the 200m and quickly kicked clear to win by two lengths from KATAK who finished best of the rest.

"As long as he (STREET OF DREAMS) can stay sound in his wind and in his legs – but no problem with his legs - just the wind, which at this stage is all good, I think he can go a long way. I’ve got my fingers crossed," said trainer Steven Burridge.

"He’s kept on improving but the weight was a big telling factor today. Next time he's going to meet them a little differently, so he has to improve again."

Winning jockey Ronnie Stewart had to shed some weight to ride STREET OF DREAMS at 50.5kg.

"It was still tough to get down (to the weight) but I knew it was going to be worth it," he said.
