Georgetown bags Magic Millions Trophy

Ten-year-old GEORGETOWN, who is racing as good as ever this season, put his younger rivals to shame in the Magic Millions Gold Coast 2YO Sale Trophy (Class 4 - 1200m) here today.

Just eight days ago, the Darci Brahma gelding led all the way over 1300m and had to battle hard near the end to win by a head.

This time apprentice Syafifie Zailuddin allowed HEADHUNTER to set the pace and settled in second spot until the final 200m.

GEORGETOWN ranged alongside HEADHUNTER 100m out, then drew away to win by one and a half lengths. Despite his win last week, he paid a generous RM45 for a win.

It was his fourth win for the year, matching his haul last season.

Winner of just one race in nine starts in Singapore, the New Zealand gelding has now won 13 times in Malaysia.

Kevin Coetzee, who trains GEORGETOWN, saddled four winners for the afternoon.

The South African took the opening event with TAIWAN CAPTAIN, then sent out MANDRAKE to victory two races later. Both started at generous odds, paying RM78 and RM57 respectively.

His fourth winner came courtesy of FIRE AWAY who was well supported at RM19.
