Trainer Stephen Gray had a superb
afternoon at Kranji here today, saddling five winners to bring his Singapore
tally to 801.
Gray had to wait until the fifth race to get the ball rolling with TRIBUTO
but he quickly followed up in the next two races to win with PRIORITIZE and
RETALLICA.
Gray then reached a milestone with his 800th Singapore winner when INFINITE
WISDOM captured the Class 5, Div 1 - 1100m sprint on the poly track.
The Australian gelding has not tasted success since winning his debut in
2020 but surprised many with a comfortable win to pay $82 for a win.
Gray then put icing on the cake to take the main event of the day with
SILENT IS GOLD in the Class 3 - 1200m handicap.
Winner of three races last year, it was the Australian gelding's first win
of the season.
"To be honest, this time last year I was looking at where
I was heading," said Gray.
"It has been incredibly tough the last few years – not
just for me but all trainers - so just to survive in this industry has been
an achievement.
"So 800 winners in Singapore is a big thrill. Not just
for me but for my family who have made Singapore their home for the last 23
years or so and supported me from the start."
