HEARTS OF GOLD, who broke through
for his maiden win last month, made it a winning double when he defied a
promotion to win the Class 4 - 1400m handicap here today.
Unplaced in seven starts in Singapore, the son of Proisir has performed
consistently since moving to Ipoh to join trainer Leong Poh Keong in the
middle of last year.
The five-year-old found one to beat twice in six runs before he broke the
duck when he scored over 1600m last time out.
Reverting to a short trip today proved no problem for the New Zealand
gelding as he settled second on the fence, then took the lead 300m out to
win by two and a quarter lengths.
