Ong and Fitzsimmons share six winners

The tussle for the 2023 Singapore trainer's premiership is heating up. With just seven meetings left in the season, Jason Ong, hoping to win the title for the first time ever, leads with the table with 54 winners after a double with MY BOSS and SUPER CONVINCE at Kranji here today.

However, the defending champion Tim Fitzsimmons is not giving up his throne easily. Fitzsimmons won 65 races last year while Ong was the best local trainer in fifth spot with 33 winners.

After seeing Ong stretched his lead in the table recent weeks, Fitzsimmons hit back with a four-timer today.

He started the afternoon saddling back-to-back wins with BEN WADE and ERUPTION. Later won, he found success with MISTER DYNAMO and IN ALL HIS GLORY to bring his tally to 50 wins, just four behind Ong.

Apprentice Azhar Rasid, who is indentured to Fitzsimmons, enjoyed a rare double astride BEN WADE and IN ALL HIS GLORY.

Azhar had scored twice on BEN WADE earlier in the season and was winning on IN ALL HIS GLORY for the first time. Both horses have now won six races in Singapore.
