Clyde Leck, who won both the senior
and apprentice titles last year with 72 winners, has started the new season
on a brilliant note.
Clyde combined with his father Charles to win three races
on the opening day of the 2023 season at Sungei Besi here today.
The pair struck first with the aptly-named WINNER'S
EUPHORIA who made it three wins in his last four starts.
The Redoute's Choice had a win in Australia but was very
disappointing in six starts in Singapore before moving on to Malaysia.
The Lecks must have been disappointed that
GAMESTONKS just failed to continue his winning
run in the combined Classes 2 & 3 race but they bounced back immediately
in the next event to score on CHONKY POTATO in the Class 4 - 1175m handicap.
It was the second win in 10 starts for the Dalghar entire
who had a win in New Zealand before coming to Malaysia.
The father and son wound up the first day of racing
winning on SILENT PRINCE who notched his fifth win Malaysia, following two
in Singapore. The Irish gelding also had a win in England before coming out
here.
Last year's leading trainer Cheng Han Yong also had a
winning start to 2023, saddling DRAGON CAVALLO to victory in the Class 4 -
1075m sprint. All races today were held on the No 2 track.
