Iron Ruler back to run after a year

When jockey Wong Chin Chuen first rode IRON RULER nearly a year ago, the pair finished dead last in a Class 3 - 1600m handicap.

This was just after the Dissident gelding had won his last race in Class 4 a month earlier. IRON RULER went on to register just one placing in six starts after that.

The pair reunited today with much happier outcome.

Given his recent performances, IRON RULER was neglected in the betting although there were just six runners in the Kranji Stakes C event over 1600m on the polytrack.

But the Australian gelding managed to come from off the pace early to hit the front 300m out and then held on to win by a neck from REAL EFECTO.

"He’s (IRON RULER) had a break and recently resumed with a couple of races short of his best (distance)," said trainer Michael Clements. "We just had a couple of races to bring up his fitness to get him up over the mile."

"So he’s more than ready for that now. He can be really effective on the Polytrack over the mile when he’s in form and well, today is his day."

It was the sixth win in 36 starts for IRON RULER who cost A$260,000 as a yearling.
