Seow leads table
after first four-timer

Apprentice Jerlyn Seow landed her first four-timer
at Kranji here today, taking a three-winner lead in the table into the final
two days of the 2023 racing season.
But Seow
will be a nervous spectator during the final two days as she will be serving
a three-week suspension for careless riding.
Seow started the day second to Rozlan Nazam (11 wins) but piled up the
winners towards the later part of the programme, with wins on RODA ROBOT,
FORTUNE WHEEL, SURREY HILLS and SILO. Rozlan drew a blank for the day.
All her winners returned handsome dividends.
RODA ROBOT (fourth win this season) paid $31 despite winning his last start.
FORTUNE WHEEL landed his second win of the season to pay $37.
SURREY HILLS chalked up his first win since April last year to pay $46. SILO
was the best-backed of Seow's winners, returning $21 for the gelding's
second win in six starts.
"I was excited on Monday," said Seow.
"I knew I had a book of rides that had six very good
winning chances and I was nervous all week, but my apprentice boss (riding
master) Noh Senari told me to keep calm, don’t rush and do the same as I
normally do.
"That helped but I was still nervous as I knew I had a
chance to ride multiple winners. I had never ridden more than two in a
meeting before and wanted to make sure I made the most out of this
opportunity.
Seow only started riding two years
ago and finished third with 15 wins in last year’s apprentice jockeys’
premiership.
