winning display

Sold just days ago, STAGESHOW
quickly repaid his new owners with a gutsy win in a Class 5 - 1200m handicap
here today.
It was also the first start for the eight-year-old under new trainer Stephen
Cook.
STAGESHOW, unplaced in four starts in Singapore, had won five times for
trainer Evert van Breukelen.
The New Zealand gelding tried to make all the running over 1600m but faded
badly in the closing stages to finish last on this track last month.
Reverting to a sprint distance today, STAGESHOW sat just behind the pace set
by LUKE MAN before ranging alongside the lead approaching the 200m. He hit
the front soon after, then had to stave off the challenge of MAIDANZ BEAUTY
to win by half a length.
His new owners have also decided to rename the horse PENANG STAR will be
take effect tomorrow.
