After two changes of name, TITAN PEGASUS is starting to
live up to his name.
Purchased by trainer Michael Clements for A$220,000 at
the 2YO In Training sale, the Foxwedge gelding raced
as Sahabat from late 2020 to end 2022 in Singapore, starting 11 times for
two wins in Class 5 and a Novice race. A record far from what his owners expected of
him.
TITAN PEGASUS was sold and sent to
trainer Stephen Cook in Ipoh. His new owners renamed him Ice Out Sixty-One.
The gelding won first-up for Cook and after one more
unplaced run, he was transferred to current trainer Mogana Selvan.
By then he was renamed again, this time to TITAN PEGASUS.
Under Selvan, TITAN PEGASUS has started four times for
two wins and two third placing.
Partnered by Khairil Zulkiflee for the first time, TITAN
PEGASUS was out of the gate in a flash and made all the running in the Class
3 - 1200m handicap at Sungei Besi today.
TITAN PEGASUS bowled along nicely in front and kicked
clear with 300m to go. KHAYAAM tried to run him down in the final 100m but
TITAN PEGASUS battled on resolutely to win by three quarters of a length.
"The horse jumped well from a wide draw (8) and we
managed to cross the field and went straight to the front," said Khairil.
"Coming to the straight, he had something in hand and won comfortably."
"I am thankful to the Selangor Turf Club for granting me
a licence."
Khairil has ridden eight winners since making his
comeback this year.
"TITAN PEGASUS has done well for me
and proved that he is very capable horse," said Selvan. The first season
trainer has saddled 12 winners so far.
