to win the Singapore Guineas

COIN TOSS followed up on his win in
the Singapore Three-Year-Old Classic (1400m) three weeks ago to capture the
Singapore Guineas at Kranji today, taking the final two legs of the 2023
Three-Year-Old series.
In a repeat of the Classic, the Australian gelding beat BESTSELLER into
second spot in the 1600m event.
COIN TOSS won a Restricted Maiden race last September but has returned to
racing much improved this season after a short let-up.
A win in Class 4 last March was followed a second in the same class last
month before he took out the Classic. And now the Guineas.
"It was a great effort from the horse and rider," said
trainer Michael Clements.
"I’m really happy that he stepped up over the mile.
Potentially, we always thought he could do it, but of course he had to prove
it today.
"I think Daniel (Moor) rode a great race today. He
definitely had him a lot closer to the speed. Stepping up to the 1600m, I
think that was warranted compared to his last start when he ran over 1400m
and got back further."
COIN TOSS's win brought up 800 wins for Clements in
Singapore.
"He’s a lovely horse. He made my job very easy," said
Moor of COIN TOSS.
"I really can’t wait for this horse to progress and
develop. Next year, a race like the Kranji Mile (1600m) is not beyond him
and he’s got the (Singapore) Four-Year-Old series and everything, so the
world is his oyster at the moment."
