DECEMBER MEETING
First Day,  Saturday,  12 December 2015

 RACE 1:  CLASS 5 - 1600M

Prior to the "All Clear" being given, an objection was lodged by Jockey WK Yan, the rider of INI KALI, placed 3rd, against EMPEROR QIAN LONG (App Z Khairil), being declared the winner on grounds of alleged interference at approximately the 450m mark.

After considering all the evidence, the Racing Stewards were of the opinion that the alleged interference had not materially affected the result of the race. The objection was overruled and the results stood.

Approaching the 450m mark, INI KALI (WK Yan) shifted outwards onto the heels of EMPEROR QIAN LONG, resulting in Jockey WK Yan having to steady his mount. ZAC FLAMBOYANT (M Wepner), which was following INI KALI, had to shift outwards over the heels of INI KALI and in doing so, carried FEARED (Lou Ho) out onto COSTAMIALOT (J De Souza) which became unbalanced and lost ground in this incident.

GEORGIE BOY (J Shankar), which raced poorly, will be required to pass a test (1000m/vet) before being declared to race again.

A post-race veterinary examination of NONEMOREDESERVING (App J Daniel) revealed that the gelding returned with respiratory distress and as such, will be required to pass a test (1000m/vet) before being declared to race again. GEORGIE BOY returned with no obvious abnormality.

The Club Veterinary Surgeon reported that RACING MAN (SS Vanan) returned lame off-fore and as such, will be required to pass a test (1000m/vet) before being declared to race again.

When questioned regarding the apparent improved performance of EMPEROR QIAN LONG, Trainer Evelyn Seet was unable to offer any suitable explanations for its performance on 15 November 2015. Her attention was drawn to the rules pertaining ‘in-and-out’ running.

 RACE 2:  CLASS 5 - 1600M

The start of this race was delayed by ten minutes to commence at 2.25pm due to the objection in Race 1.

NELSON M (App J Daniel) stood and was slow to begin.

TRUE HERITAGE (J Low), which raced poorly, will be required to pass a test (1000m/vet) before being declared to race again.

App M Khoody, the rider of STUB dropped his whip at approximately the 300m mark. App M Khoody, in the presence of his master Trainer Peter Lee was warned that a repetition of dropping his whip may lead to a penalty being imposed in future.

Post-race veterinary examinations of TWIST OLIVER (C Goon) and TRUE HERITAGE revealed no obvious abnormality. TWIST OLIVER was impounded.

 RACE 3:  CLASS 5 - 1600M

PISCES GEM (App SU Lim) was slow to begin.

GOOD TASTE (TM Wan) which was hanging in, shifted inwards, carrying SILVER AND GOLD (App S Saddam) in, behind EL COMANDANTE (App KC Wong) at approximately the 300M mark.

Jockey M Wepner, the rider of BIG EGO felt something was amiss and eased his mount down from approximately the 200M mark. A post-race veterinary examination of BIG EGO revealed no obvious abnormality, however the gelding returned having cast its off fore plate. Trainer P Pereira, the trainer of BIG EGO was advised that if he finds anything amiss with the gelding during the week, he would be expected to report to the Stewards.

Jockey Lou Ho, the rider of TURBO reported that his mount was not striding out freely. A post-race veterinary examination of TURBO revealed no obvious abnormality.

App AK Lim, the rider of SILVERON WINGS reported that his mount was making respiratory noises. A post-race veterinary examination of SILVERON WINGS revealed that the gelding returned with respiratory distress and as such, will be required to pass a test (1000M/vet) before being declared to race again.

 RACE 4:  COSMO D - 1600M

ONE CUT ABOVE (S Thai Yang) fly-jumped on jumping.

THUNDER WIND (Lou Ho) was slow to begin.

FOX COMMAND (App KC Tham) showed no early pace, despite being urged along.

HORIZON LAD (App AK Lim) and JACKWIN (App CT Lee), which both raced poorly, will each be required to pass a test (1000m/vet) before being declared to race again.

Jockey M Wepner, the rider of STREET TEASE dropped his whip at approximately the 300m mark. He was fined the sum of RM1,000 for negligence under MRA Rule 152(5)(a) for dropping his whip.

Post-race veterinary examinations of HORIZON LAD and JACKWIN revealed no obvious abnormality.

 RACE 5:  CLASS 4 - 1400M

POWER WIND (WK Yan) jumped awkwardly outwards and brushed the outside gate.

D’CREATOR (J Shankar) was slow into stride.

JOYFUL (App KC Tham) raced wide into the home straight.

ALL SERENE (App S Saddam) and D’CREATOR, which raced poorly, will each be required to pass a test (1000m/vet) before being declared to race again.

App KC Wong, the rider of MONEY MAKES MONEY reported that his mount was not striding out freely. A post-race veterinary examination of MONEY MAKES MONEY revealed that the gelding had returned lame off-fore and as such, will be required to pass a test (1000m/vet) before being declared to race again.

A post-race veterinary examination of ALL SERENE revealed no obvious abnormality. JOYFUL and D’CREATOR both returned having cast their near-fore plate.

ALL VOLKSRAAD GO (S Thai Yang) returned with respiratory distress and as such, the gelding will be required to pass a test (1000m/vet) before being declared to race again.

 RACE 6:  CLASS 5 - 1200M

As the start was effected, GLORIOUS GERONIMO (App J Daniel) fly-jumped and was slow to begin.

OZZY (TM Wan) raced wide on the home turn and into the straight.

UNDOUBTEDLY CLEVER (App KC Wong) clipped the heels of LUCK TREASURE (App SU Lim) at approximately the 700m mark when shifting outwards, stumbled and became unbalanced for a number of strides.

Post-race veterinary examinations of UNDOUBTEDLY CLEVER and RUMPELSTILTSKIN (App I Amirul) revealed no obvious abnormality. Both these horses were impounded.

 RACE 7:  CLASS 4 - 1000M

MOVIE GOER, a course scratching as it had sustained sole bruised both fore, will be required to pass a veterinary examination before being declared to race again.

Light rain fell prior to the running of this race.

LANDING NORTH (J Low) had a tendency to lay in in the home straight.

FLUTZ (WK Yan) had a tendency to lay inwards away from the whip from approximately the 200m mark.

A post-race veterinary examination of ANAK PUJUT (App KC Wong) revealed no obvious abnormality.

Jockey K Yazid who rode his 80th winner on ÉCLAIR SENSATION and he will be entitled to claim only 1kg effective from Monday, 14 December 2015.

 GENERAL

AMENDMENT
RACE 1 (R1328), SATURDAY, 7 NOVEMBER 2015, SELANGOR TURF CLUB NOVEMBER MEETING 2015

Jockey J De Souza (BLACK COFFEE) who lodged an appeal against his suspension of 2 Malaysian race days for careless riding under MRA Rule 44(9)(a)(ii), applied to withdraw his appeal on 5 December 2015. After consideration and consultation with the Racing Stewards, his application was acceded to, however his deposit was forfeited. His suspension commenced on 5 December 2015 and to expire on 6 December 2015, both dates inclusive.

RACE 2 (R1450), SATURDAY, 5 DECEMBER 2015, SELANGOR TURF CLUB DECEMBER MEETING 2015

Trainer R Lines (EN LAUDER) subsequently exercised his right of appeal. The appeal hearing against the penalty of the fine of RM2,000 will be held at a date to be fixed.

RACE 5 (R1293), SATURDAY, 31 OCTOBER 2015, SELANGOR TURF CLUB DECEMBER MEETING 2015

Jockey L Sofhan (LUWAK COFFEE) who lodged an appeal against his suspension of 2 months for contravention of MRA Rule 44(10), applied to withdraw his appeal on 10 December 2015. After consideration, his application was acceded to and his deposit was refunded. His suspension commenced on 10 December 2015 and to expire on 9 February 2016, both dates inclusive.

 

APPEAL HEARING AGAINST THE TWO YEARS DISQUALIFICATION AND RM50,000 FINE IMPOSED ON JOCKEY HENRY BARNABAS (H BARNABAS) BY THE STIPENDIARY STEWARDS UNDER MRA RULE 44(8)(a) FOR THE RUNNING AND HANDLING OF "MY SWALLOW" IN RACE 9 (R1232), 1ST DAY, SUNDAY, 14 SEPTEMBER 2014 AT PENANG TURF CLUB SEPTEMBER MEETING 2014

The Penang Turf Club Racing Stewards yesterday (11 December 2015) heard the above appeal at the Penang Turf Club.

After considering submissions by Jockey H Barnabas, his counsel and the Acting Chief Stipendiary Steward and viewing the video of the race, the Racing Stewards dismissed Jockey H Barnabas’ appeal. His two-year disqualification effective from 29 September 2014 and to expire on 28 September 2016 and the fine of RM50,000 remain in effect. His deposit is forfeited.
