 RACE 1:  (POLYTRACK)

LION WAVE (App K Toh) lost ground after beginning awkwardly.

HAPPY SAGA (J Powell), which was slow to begin, was inconvenienced by BROWNE’S ANATOMY (O Chavez), which jumped awkwardly outwards.

GREENBACK (App R Rueven) jumped awkwardly inwards and bumped BANKERS CALL (App Y Ruzaili).

Shortly after the start, PERFECTLY ECLIPSE (App H Syafiq) shifted outwards and bumped JOE SWIPER (App WS Chan). JOE SWIPER then continued to shift outwards inconveniencing HARDCORE ROCK (App R Zawari).

Near the 1000m, FUKU ICHIBAN (S John) shifted inwards and bumped PERFECTLY ECLIPSE.

Approaching the 700m, CLERMONT CLUB (App CK Ng) eased to avoid the heels of PERFECTLY ECLIPSE, which rolled inwards.

FUKU ICHIBAN raced wide throughout.

After passing the 400m, App H Syafiq, the rider of PERFECTLY ECLIPSE, dropped his whip. He was subsequently warned that a repetition of dropping his whip may lead to a penalty being imposed in future.

A subsequent veterinary examination was requested on BROWNE’S ANATOMY which revealed that the horse returned not striding out freely.

 RACE 2:  RESTRICTED MAIDEN - 1200M (POLYTRACK)

Prior to the running of Race 2, Trainer M Walker advised the Stewards that his instructions to Jockey O Chavez, the rider of CAPTAIN CLASSIQUE, if circumstances permit, to try and lead.

Trainer L Dragon was fined a sum of S$50 in terms of MRA Rule 65(5)(c) for failing to produce the correct colours on SGFIFTY (App TR Barnabas).

LIM’S KNIGHT (A Munro), which was difficult to be loaded into the barrier, will be required to pass one starting stall test prior to being declared to race again in terms of MRA Rule 78(2).

FLYING SHADOW (S John) was slow into stride.

LIM’S KNIGHT jumped awkwardly inwards and bumped SGFIFTY. LIM’S KNIGHT was then bumped by SGFIFTY, which in turn had been bumped by RAINBOW FISH (App R Hasri), which was carried outwards by RIVER OF GOLD (B Vorster), which shifted outwards after beginning awkwardly. LIM’S KNIGHT then made contact with the hindquarters of MONTE CARLO (App Y Salim), resulting in LIM’S KNIGHT having to be eased. GOLDEN DIAMOND (App J See), which was racing to the outside of MONTE CARLO, was inconvenienced and shifted outwards abruptly bumping heavily with BRAVE BLOSSOM (App CC Wong), which lost ground after becoming unbalanced. At the same time, GOLD PIN (App R Rueven) shifted inwards, resulting in BRAVE BLOSSOM having to be eased inwards.

LIM’S RESPOND (KB Soo) had a tendency to lay outwards throughout.

Approaching the 200m, GOLDEN DIAMOND shifted outwards and bumped MONTE CARLO. GOLDEN DIAMOND then laid inwards over the concluding stages.

For the majority of the homestraight, LIM’S KNIGHT laid inwards under pressure.

The Veterinary Surgeon reported that TRUMPS UP (App K A’Isisuhairi) had returned with the saddle having slipped back during the running of the race.

A subsequent veterinary examination was requested on LIM’S RESPOND which revealed no apparent abnormality.

 RACE 3:  CLASS 4, DIV 2 - 1100M (POLYTRACK)

Acting on veterinary advice that BLUE DIAMOND (N Juglall) was found to be lame off-fore, the Panel of Stewards ordered its withdrawal at 1309Hrs. In terms of MRA Regulation 24.2, it must be presented to an Official Veterinary Surgeon prior to being declared to race again.

As the start was effected, MEXBOROUGH BOY (App TR Barnabas) reared and lost ground. In view of its previous history, it will be required to pass two consecutive starting stall tests prior to being declared to race again in terms of MRA Rule 78(2).

PRATT STREET (App Z Zuriman) jumped awkwardly inwards and bumped ROYAL STYLE (O Chavez) in onto IMPERIAL BOY (App R Hasri).

Near the 900m, PRATT STREET, which was racing greenly, shifted inwards and bumped ROYAL STYLE, resulting in the gelding having to be eased off the heels of ROSELLI (CW Brown).

MEXBOROUGH BOY raced wide throughout.

A subsequent veterinary examination was requested on PRATT STREET which revealed no apparent abnormality.

 RACE 4:  INITIATION - 1000M (POLYTRACK)

KEEPIT KARMA (App K Toh) was difficult behind the barrier and to be loaded.

MOTHER NATURE (R Woodworth) jumped awkwardly outwards and bumped heavily with KEEPIT KARMA forcing that filly out onto TRIGGER MAN (App R Hasri), which had been bumped inwards by THE JEUNEYMAN (A Munro), which jumped awkwardly inwards. As a result, MOTHER NATURE became very unbalanced. Shortly thereafter, SECRET MAN (S John), MR DE NIRO (M Rodd), THE JEUNEYMAN, TRIGGER MAN and KEEPIT KARMA were all crowded for racing room between MOTHER NATURE and CONFACET (E Aslam), which shifted inwards.

Near the 900m, TRIGGER MAN was momentarily crowded between KEEPIT KARMA and THE JEUNEYMAN, which shifted inwards.

Passing the 800m, BEST JADE (App CC Wong) steadied to avoid the heels of VINTAGE VERDOT (O Chavez), which rolled inwards.

MOTHER NATURE laid outwards near the 800m and in so doing, approaching the 600m, carried DUKE OF AZMAAN (App Z Zuriman) and CONFACET wider from the track.

Approaching the 400m, VINTAGE VERDOT shifted outwards slightly as THE JEUNEYMAN shifted inwards slightly, resulting in the horses bumping. As a result of being bumped, VINTAGE VERDOT shifted inwards bumping heavily with BEST JADE, resulting in VINTAGE VERDOT being buffeted for a number of strides and having to be checked.

A subsequent veterinary examination was requested on KEEPIT KARMA which revealed that the horse exhibited signs of respiratory distress after the race. In view of its barrier manners and the result of the veterinary examination, KEEPIT KARMA will be required to pass a 1000m gallop trial from the barrier and a veterinary examination prior to being declared to race again.

Following the running of Race 4, App Zuriman, the rider of DUKE OF AZMAAN, was examined by the Course Medical Officer who declared him unfit to fulfil his remaining riding engagements.

 RACE 5:  BENCHMARK 67, DIV 2 - 1200M (POLYTRACK)

SMART IDEA (App CS Chin) lost ground after beginning awkwardly.

CAPTIVATE (App R Sazali), OM (App CK Ng) and SERGEANT PEPPER (N Juglall) were all slow into stride.

Shortly after the start, OM had to be eased to avoid the heels of MEXICAN GAL (App R Rueven), which shifted inwards. MEXICAN GAL was then bumped by WINNING MAN (J Powell), which shifted outwards.

Approximately 50m after the start, KEEN DRAGON (App CC Wong) eased to avoid the heels of MEDIA CAPTAIN (CW Brown), which shifted inwards.

Near the 1100m, MEXICAN GAL and WINNING MAN bumped.

OM showed no early pace despite urgings of its rider.

MAC VOLKS (A Munro) raced wide throughout.

FAITHFULLY (App J See) laid inwards from the 700m.

A subsequent veterinary examination was requested on MEXICAN GAL which revealed that the horse returned having bled. In terms of MRA Rule 92(5), it will not be permitted to canter or gallop on the main training tracks of any racecourse for a period of five months, and may not start in any race for a period of six months, and then only after having satisfactorily passed a bleeder’s test.

A subsequent veterinary examination was requested on CASH BOX (R Woodworth) which revealed that the horse exhibited signs of respiratory distress after the race. CASH BOX will be required to pass a 1000m gallop trial and veterinary examination prior to being declared to race again.

Jockey Powell, when questioned regarding the run of WINNING MAN, stated that the gelding travelled well until placed under pressure entering the homestraight where WINNING MAN failed to respond to his riding. Both Jockey Powell and Trainer D Kok could offer no tangible explanation for the performance of WINNING MAN today. WINNING MAN was impounded for routine veterinary and analytical examination. The Veterinary Surgeon reported that the horse exhibited signs of respiratory distress after the race and returned not striding out freely. WINNING MAN will be required to pass a 1000m gallop trial and veterinary examination prior to being declared to race again.

 RACE 6:  INITIATION - 1600M (POLYTRACK)

Prior to the running of Race 6, Trainer M Walker advised the Stewards that his instructions to Jockey M Zaki, the rider of BIG BANKER, if circumstances permit, to try and lead.

ZIP A DEE DOO DAH (A Munro) was slow to begin.

EDEN GARDEN (App WS Chan) jumped awkwardly inwards and bumped GURU-GURU (B Vorster).

SWAN SONG (O Chavez) and GOLD CUSTOMER (App R Rueven) bumped on jumping.

Shortly after the start, BIG BANKER, which was slow into stride, made contact with TEMBUSU ESTRELA (CW Brown). BIG BANKER was then momentarily crowded between TEMBUSU ESTRELA and BORN A FIGHTER (App K Toh), which shifted outwards.

For a short distance passing the 1500m, BIG BANKER became awkwardly placed on the heels of BORN A FIGHTER.

BONJOUR BOB (I Saifudin) and BORN A FIGHTER both raced wide throughout.

EDEN GARDEN and BORN A FIGHTER raced tight and brushed on a number of occasions in the backstraight.

CLASSIFIED (M Rodd) laid outwards rounding the hometurn.

Near the 350m, SWAN SONG shifted outwards when improving and in so doing, made contact with GOLD CUSTOMER.

Approaching the 100m, GURU-GURU checked when racing to the outside of BORN A FIGHTER. At a subsequent Inquiry, App Toh, in the presence of his Master, Trainer M Clements, pleaded guilty to a charge of careless riding under MRA Rule 44(9)(a)(ii) in that near the 100m, he permitted his mount to shift outwards, when not sufficiently clear of GURU-GURU, resulting in that gelding having to be checked and when being checked, clipping the heels of his mount. When deciding on penalty, the Stewards took into account his record, guilty plea, the degree of interference and carelessness. App Toh was suspended from riding in races with effect from Monday, 14 December 2015 until Friday, 08 January 2016 both dates inclusive (three Singapore Race Days) and was advised of his Right of Appeal.

The Farrier reported that TEMBUSU ESTRELA returned having cast its near-fore plate.

Subsequent veterinary examinations were requested on both SWAN SONG and ZIP A DEE DOO DAH which revealed no apparent abnormality.

 RACE 7:  CLASS 5 - 1900M (POLYTRACK)

As there was no similar claiming rider available, the Stewards gave permission for App R Rueven to replace App Z Zuriman on QUETZAL.

Trainer J O’Hara was fined a sum of S$200 for negligence in terms of MRA Rule 152(5)(a) in that he failed to submit his request for Jockey S Sam to ride overweight on GODS SPEED within the prescribed time at Declarations.

After arriving at the barrier, GRAND PARIS (I Saifudin) had its saddle readjusted.

STANZOUT (App A Feiruz) began awkwardly.

Shortly after the start, GRAND PARIS had to be eased when crowded for room between QUETZAL, which was carried outwards by DR N WING FIGHTERS (App WS Chan) and GALAXY EXPRESS (App K A’Isisuhairi), which was carried inwards by PINYIN (App CC Wong).

GODS SPEED raced wide in the early stages before being allowed to stride to the lead near the 1000m.

Near the 700m, GRAND PARIS steadied after racing up onto the heels of DR N WING FIGHTERS.

In the early part of the homestraight, GALAXY EXPRESS laid inwards under pressure. GALAXY EXPRESS then shifted outwards near the 200m making contact with SINGSURAT (CW Brown), which shifted inwards.

GRAND PARIS had difficulty obtaining clear running between the 300m and the 200m.

Approaching the 200m, WINNING SUCCESS rolled inwards and bumped PINYIN.

Near the 50m, SALUT AMOUR (App K Toh) eased to avoid the heels of WINNING SUCCESS, which shifted inwards under pressure.

 RACE 8:  BENCHMARK 67, DIV 1 - 1200M (POLYTRACK)

As there was no similar Apprentice available, the Stewards gave permission for claiming Jockey E Aslam to replace App Z Zuriman on TAFFETAS.

TOTALITY (App R Sazali) lost ground after beginning awkwardly.

EATONS GOLD (App CK Ng) and LIM’S SHOWCASE (KB Soo) bumped on jumping.

After passing the 1000m, NINETYSEVEN GOLD (App K A’Isisuhairi), which was racing keenly, steadied off the heels of RUAPEHU (M Rodd). NINETYSEVEN GOLD continued to race keenly for some distance thereafter.

POLE PARADISE (App J See) raced wide throughout.

Approaching the winning Post, RUAPEHU eased to avoid the heels of THE GENERAL (B Vorster), which shifted inwards under pressure.

NINETYSEVEN GOLD was held up for clear running from the 500m until passing the 400m.

The Farrier reported that EATONS GOLD returned having cast its off-fore plate.

App Sazali reported that TOTALITY was not striding out freely.  A subsequent veterinary examination revealed that the horse returned with an abnormal epiglottis. In terms of MRA Regulation 24.2, it must be presented to an Official Veterinary Surgeon prior to being declared to race again.

 RACE 9:  COLONIAL CHIEF STAKES
                 SINGAPORE GROUP 3 - 1700M (POLYTRACK)

LASER STORM (M Rodd) jumped awkwardly outwards and bumped GOLIATH (J Powell).

Near the 900m, SEBROSE (A Munro) was bumped by MR SPIELBERG (CW Brown) after that gelding was bumped inwards by BOURBON GOLDMAN (App WS Chan).

The Farrier reported that GOLIATH returned having cast its off-fore plate.

Jockey B Vorster, when questioned regarding the run of SLEW OF LODE, stated that after being able to obtain a position just behind the leaders in the early stages of the event, the gelding was under pressure to maintain its position from a point entering the backstraight. He further added that he attempted to apply further pressure to SLEW OF LODE, however, the gelding failed to respond to his riding and in his opinion, was disappointing. His explanation was noted. A subsequent veterinary examination was requested on SLEW OF LODE which revealed no apparent abnormality.

A subsequent veterinary examination was requested on SEBROSE which revealed no apparent abnormality.

 RACE 10:  CLASS 3 - 1700M (POLYTRACK)

BLOSSOMS SEQUEL (A Munro) was difficult to be loaded into the barrier. Trainer L Laxon was advised that a warning has been placed on BLOSSOMS SEQUEL regarding its barrier manners and to take steps to improve them or action may be taken in future.

SQUIRE OSBALDESTON, which was restless in the barrier, was taken out, examined by the Veterinary Surgeon, passed fit to race and reloaded. Trainer S Gray was advised that a warning has been placed on SQUIRE OSBALDESTON regarding its barrier manners and to take steps to improve them or action may be taken in future.

Shortly after the start, SQUIRE OSBALDESTON and FUJIN BRIGHT (S Sam) both lost ground when crowded between HIGH BLADE (I Saifudin) and ALASAMO (App R Rueven), which shifted outwards.

Passing the 1500m, SQUIRE OSBALDESTON eased to avoid the heels of POWER PLAY, which shifted inwards after becoming awkwardly placed on the heels of HIGH BLADE, which was being restrained. BLOSSOMS SEQUEL, which was following, had to be steadied in consequence.

Near the 1400m, SQUIRE OSBALDESTON had to be eased after becoming awkwardly placed on the inside of the heels of POWER PLAY.

CLUTHA LAD (O Chavez) raced wide throughout.

Approaching the 400m, ALASAMO checked and TIME ODYSSEY (CW Brown) and HIGH BLADE were both crowded between POWER PLAY and FUJIN BRIGHT. An Inquiry into this incident will be held at a date to be fixed.

 RACE 11:  CLASS 4, DIV 1 - 1100M (POLYTRACK)

Trainer T Kieser was fined a sum of S$200 for negligence in terms of MRA Rule 152(5)(a) in that he failed to submit his request for Jockey A Munro to ride overweight on SUPERSONICSURPRISE (A Munro) within the prescribed time at Declarations.

BRIEFNESS (App CC Wong) lost ground after beginning extremely awkwardly.

COTE DE NUITS (B Vorster) jumped awkwardly outwards and made contact with MIGHTY CREATION (E Aslam).

BAAB AL NASR (App R Firdhaus) raced keenly in the early stages.

COTE DE NUITS raced wide throughout.

Approaching and passing the 400m, COTE DE NUITS raced in restricted room between LINCOLN ROAD (J Powell) and BAAB AL NASR.

After passing the 200m, COTE DE NUITS eased to avoid the heels of FRAGRANCE EMPIRE (I Saifudin), which shifted inwards.

LINCOLN ROAD and PURE TACTICS (O Chavez) raced tight over the concluding stages.

A subsequent veterinary examination was requested on COTE DE NUITS which revealed that the horse exhibited signs of respiratory distress after the race. COTE DE NUITS will be required to pass a 1000m gallop trial and veterinary examination prior to being declared to race again.

FRIDAY, 11 DECEMBER 2015:

RACE 1 [TF1477]

At the conclusion of an inquiry on Sunday, 13 December 2015, Jockey I Saifudin, the rider of MACHFIVE, pleaded guilty to a charge of careless riding under MRA Rule 44(9)(a)(ii) in that whilst riding MACHFIVE in Race 1 at the Singapore Turf Club Meeting on Friday, 11 December 2015, after passing the 800m, he permitted his mount to shift inwards, when not sufficiently clear of MAJOR GREEN (App TR Barnabas), resulting in that gelding having to be checked. When deciding on penalty, the Stewards took into account his record, guilty plea and the degree of interference and carelessness.  Jockey Saifudin was suspended from riding in races with effect from Monday, 14 December 2015 to Sunday, 3 January 2016 both dates inclusive (two Singapore Race Days) and was advised of his right of appeal.

RACE 4 [TF1480]

On Sunday, 13 December 2015, the Stewards concluded an inquiry into the reasons for MIGHTY EMPEROR (B Vorster) having to check when racing to the inside of KNIGHT’S CHARISMA (App WS Chan) and VOY (I Saifudin) near the 700m. It was established that near the 700m, MIGHTY EMPEROR checked off the heels of SUN DANCE (R Woodworth), when taken inwards by KNIGHT’S CHARISMA, which, after shifting inwards and away from VOY, was then taken inwards slightly by that gelding. In the circumstances, no blame could be attributed to any rider and as such, no further action was taken. However, Jockey Saifudin was warned and advised that he must exercise greater care when shifting ground in future.
