Jockey Cheng Kee Ten today won an appeal against a four-month suspension and a fine for his ride on SUBURBAN SECRET a Class 5 - 1200m handicap at Sungei Besi on Oct 11 last year.

Cheng was found guilty of a charge under MRA Rule 44(10) for failing to ride to the satisfaction of the Stewards after an inquiry.

The Selangor Turf Club racing stewards heard his appeal today.

After considering submissions from Cheng who was represented by his legal counsel, Murali Achan a/l P.E. Achan and assisted by Theresa Goh, a certified interpreter, jockey HS Gill and the chief stipendiary steward, the racing stewards allowed the appeal. His deposit was refunded.

Also today, trainer Mohd Sukri has a RM15,000 fine reduced to RM10,000 following an appeal.

Sukri was charged under MRA Rule 134(6)(a) as read with MRA Rule 134(13) after the post-race urine sample of KIM SALUTE returned positive to "Phenylbutazone and Matabolite" after the gelding’s race at Sungei Besi on Sep 21 last year.

After considering submissions from the chief stipendiary steward and Sukri, and after considering all the evidence, the racing stewards allowed the appeal and reduced the fine from RM15,000 to RM10,000. His deposit was refunded.

Jockey Mohd Fadzlei was suspended three months and fined RM10,000 for his handling of NINE POINT in a Class 4 - 1200m sprint at Sungei Besi here on Jan 25.

His appeal was also heard today.
