Apprentice Liew Seng Cheong has failed in his appeal against a 12-month disqualification for his handling of CRAYHEYZI in a Maiden - 1200m sprint here on Jan 10. He was also fined RM20,000.

The Perak Turf Club racing stewards heard the appeal today.

After considering submissions from Liew, in the presence of his master, trainer Peter Lee, his counsel and the stipendiary steward, and after considering all the evidence, the racing stewards dismissed the appeal against the disqualification of one ear and the fine of RM20,000. The disqualification was confirmed to commence with effect from Jan 10 and to expire on Jan 9, 2010, both days inclusive (since Liew was not granted a stay of sentence). Liew’s deposit was forfeited.
