Champion apprentice Yap now a senior rider

SINGAPORE:  Jun 18, 2013

Last year's apprentice Yap Kin Hin is now a senior rider after being granted a jockey's licence for the remainder of the 2013 season.

Yap shot to fame in 2012 was nothing short of phenomenal, finishing eighth overall in the table with 24 winners, when you consider that he rode just one winner in his maiden season in 2008 but failed to land a winner in 2009, 2010 and 2011!

Also promoted to the senior rank is Mohd Fadzlei bin Ismail who has yet to ride a winner this season. He had 15 winners in 2011 and 12 last year.

Macau jockey Lao Weng Hong is making a comeback to local racing after a lapse of several years. He has also been granted a jockey's licence for the remainder of the 2013 season.

In Singapore, the Turf Club has extended the licences of Manoel Nunes, Alan Munro and John Powell by six months to Dec 31.

Greg Cheyne, who last weekend won an International Jockeys Challenge in Kuala Lumpur, requested and was granted a three-month extension to Sep 30.
