Rides have been far and few
between for French jockey Jerome Lermyte
since he made his debut at Kuala Lumpur last month.
In the six week since he
came over from Australia to try his luck here, the 24-year-old has picked up
just 10 rides prior to today.
Lermyte has just one ride
in Penang today and made it count when he piloted FLAPJACK to victory in the
opening event here today, beating THUNDER MAN by two and a quarter lengths
in soft going.
Jose de Souza, who rode
both FLAPJACK and THUNDER MAN in their last start, was on the runner-up
today.
A winner in six starts in
New Zealand, FLAPJACK picked up his only previous win in Malaysia in
February last year.
There was also reason for
apprentice Mohd Zulfikri Mohd Salim who landed his first winner on GLORY
STAR for his master Richard Lines. It was also his only ride for the day.
