Meeres wins first-up in Malaysia

KUALA LUMPUR:  Mar 30, 2013

Perth jockey Shaun Meeres introduced himself to Malaysian racing fans in the best possible manner when he scored in his debut at Sungei Besi here today.

BUKIT BINTANG was the first of his eight rides this weekend, all provided by Frank Maynard.

Meeres made no mistake on the favourite, settling the gelding just outside the pacemaker NEW CLASSMATE. It took a while for BUKIT BINATNG to master the leader and he eventually cleared away to win by one and a quarter lengths.

BUKIT BINTANG ran himself into form in his last two starts, finishing fourth in his debut and was third last time out.
