Yap and Cheng make hay while the sun shines

Firman Yap and Cheng Ke Ten, both riding with a suspension hanging over their heads, made the most of their opportunities to land a winner each here today.

Yap was handed a three-month suspension and fine of RM20,000 for his ride on CAVORTING on Sep 21 while Cheng was suspended four months and fined RM30,000 for his handling of SUBURBAN SECRET on Oct 11.

Both have appealed their penalties and granted a stay of execution.

Yap, riding DAWN PROSPECT for the first time today, guided the Australian gelding, a two-time winner in Singapore, to his first win in 10 starts in Malaysia.

Cheng was riding TEN SENSE WIN for the first time today and promptly guided the American horse to his fourth win in 12 starts, and landing himself his first win of the season.
