Ganeesh fails in appeal, disqualified one year

KUALA LUMPUR:  Jul 10, 2014

Apprentice jockey Thanggarajaneesh Munusamy (M Ganeesh) has failed in his appeal against a one-year disqualification and fine of RM50,000 for his ride on JACK BAUER at Sungei Besi here on Mar 22.

The Selangor Turf Club racing stewards heard his appeal yesterday.

After considering submissions from Ganeesh, in the presence of his master, trainer Frank Maynard and the deputy chief stipendiary Steward, the racing stewards dismissed the appeal against the one year disqualification and fine of RM50,000.

Ganeesh’s disqualification was confirmed to commence with effect from Apr 8 and to Apr 7 next year, both dates inclusive, to be served concurrently with his current suspension. His appeal deposit was forfeited.

As the decision of the main appeal has been decided, the question regarding his appeal against the stipendiary stewards’ decision of not granting him a stay of sentence did not arise. His appeal deposit was refunded.
