It was a triumphant
'home-coming' for trainer Anna Maree Scott when her very first Malaysian runner
WYATT EARP scored a gutsy win in the Class 4 - 1300m handicap at Sungei Besi
here today.
The Kiwi woman spent two
years on this track in the late nineties, first as a senior track rider for
trainer Tan Soo Beng and later as a stable supervisor for Jonathan Sargent.
Scott was granted a licence
to train in Malaysia last year but has taken her time to prepare her small
horses she currently has in her yards.
WYATT EARP, placed once
over 1600m in two starts in New Zealand, arrived in September last year.
Jockey Jose De Souza had
the four-year-old second last in the early running and made his on the
inside of horses at the home bend. WYATT EARP went after the leaders at the
300m and just got the better of the favourite GOOD VIBRATIONS to win by a
head.
Scott will have to wait for
her first 'championship' winner as the trainers' statistics today will not
count towards the 2014 table. The novelty meeting today is for home based
horses.
