Jockey Ruzaini on the double in comeback

KUALA LUMPUR:  Aug 15, 2015

Ruzaini Supien, out in the cold for five years before making his comeback last April, landed his first win in his comeback when he booted home KIM DIVA to win in the opening event at Sungei Besi here today.

It was a comeback win for nine-year-old KIM DIVA whose last win was in March last year. She has now eight wins in 66 starts.

Ruzaini, who was still an apprentice when disqualified three years but eventually ousted two years on appeal and had to wait for another three for the chance to ride again, celebrated the breakthrough with another victory astride DANCING TSURU later in the programme.

The Japanese gelding was having his first run in Malaysia after chalking up one win in 11 starts in Singapore.

Prior to today, Ruzaini has had limited opportunities with only six rides but was booked on seven mounts today as he seeks to re-establish himself.

Ruzaini won 16 races in his maiden season in 2009 and he also rode six winners in Singapore. The following season, he won another 16 races in Malaysia and 15 in Singapore before he was charged by the stewards in Singapore.
