Leck returns but Goh calls it quits KUALA LUMPUR: Jul 29, 2016 |
|
Former Singapore champion trainer Charles Leck is making a comeback to racing after a lapse of several years. But instead of his former playground Kranji, Leck aims to prove himself once again in Malaysia, as the Selangor Turf Club has granted him stables at Sungei Besi. Several horses trained by Leck were disqualified as a result of positive swabs in 2007 and 2008, and in 2009 he was handed a three-year disqualification which was eventually reduced to two and a half years on appeal. While Malaysia gain one trainer, it was losing another as trainer Edylyn Goh is calling it quits after just four years on the scene. She saddled LITTLEBITOFJOY to her maiden win in mid 2012 and the American bred went on to win two Perak Derbys, in 2013 and again last year, for her. LITTLEBITOFJOY won his third Perak Derby earlier this year, but by then then gelding had been transferred to Ismadi Ismail. Goh has never had more than 10 horses in her care at any time which may explain why she is calling it quits so soon despite the two big wins. |
