From a discard to classic
winner. The amazing resurgent of TAICHI MASTER continued when he captured
the RM700,000 Coronation Cup over 1600m here today.
The Australian
five-year-old was one of the first to break but jockey Jose De Souza eased
him back to sit fourth on the fence.
The Brazilian eased him off
the rails around the tiring pacemaker HARRYS PAL at the top of the straight.
Just as MONEY MACHINE staked his claim on the outside, TAICHI MASTER took a
run on his inside the pair cleared away from the rest to fight out the
finish, with TAICHI MASTER winning by three quarters of a length.
The win today followed that
of his victory in the RM250,000 Sports Toto
Supreme Challenge Trophy (1400m) at Sungei Besi just two weeks ago.
Since relocating from
Singapore, TAICHI MASTER has won five times in his last six starts in
Malaysia.
For De Souza, the win eased
the pain of having to sit out the next one month through
suspension for reckless riding.
