Good Fight snatches hattrick in Charity Cup

Bang-in-form galloper GOOD FIGHT completed a hattrick of Cup victories when he captured the RM100,000 Charity Cup over 1400m in Ipoh here today.

Starting with the RM120,000 Sports Toto Supreme Challenge Cup (1400m) at the end of last month, the Super One gelding went on to win the RM150,000 Coronation Cup (1600m) here two weeks ago.

The six-year-old kept that form to win as he liked today.

Jockey Jose De Souza had the six-year-old running in the box seat third on the rails, behind the front runners SPRINT RAMPAGE and RELAU STAR.

GOOD FIGHT moved up on their outside making the turn into the straight but veteran galloper RELAU STAR snatched the lead soon on entering the straight.

GOOD FIGHT raced past RELAU STAR half way down the home stretch and in the run home, drew away to win by 4 3/4 lengths. TEOCHEW finished well to finish third, ahead of ANSU who was slow out of the gate.

Interestingly, GOOD FIGHT's dam BELLA ELEGANTE is a half-sister to SOLO VENTURE, who won 10 races in the MRA circuit including the Charity Cup in 2004 and the MRA Cup in 2005.

Meanwhile, newcomer HEART OF FIRE announced his arrival with a big win in the Jockey Club Of Turkiye Race (Class 4 - 1300m).

The Australian gelding raced for two seasons in New Zealand, winning once over 1400m and was also placed twice in 12 starts.

The four-year-old trashed his rivals by 7 3/4 lengths despite drifting out badly in the home stretch, finishing the race wide.
